Thoughts on the United States Mint and Its Products
To many people it appears that the United States Mint has shifted away from its focus of producing circulating coinage for commerce in the United States and instead is trying to get as much money as possible from collectors by selling products at a large premium over face or bullion value. Some collectors have echoed concern about this as they are unable to purchase all products the Mint offers for sale due to the high cost of some of these items

Prior to the metals rush of the 1980s, coin buyers had two options when purchasing coins: one, they could become numismatic gurus with detailed knowledge of the series they collected; or two, they could choose to trust a dealer who, hopefully, was honest.
Unfortunately, not all dealers were honest

The 960 Réis Overstrikes of Brazil
One of the most fascinating series in South-American numismatics, the 960 réis of Brazil, first minted in 1810, differs slightly from other “crown-sized” coins from the early 19th century.
Most date/mint-mark combinations can be found with relative ease, since many dates were produced in large quantities, but it is the source of the silver planchets used to strike the coins that makes the series so interesting

With dozens of coin shows being held across the country (and around the world) every month it’s always a good idea to consider coin show etiquette. Roanoke Commemorative Half Dollar
After a plethora of commemorative half dollars were released in 1936, 1937 was a quieter year, with only two new commemorative half dollars issued with that date.
