PMG-certified ‘Rainbow Note’ Realizes $180,000 at ANA Stack’s Bowers Sale

The ANA World’s Fair of Money wrapped up just a few weeks ago, but it is still worth talking about. So many auctions took place that there is new news coming out around the corner each day regarding record-breaking prices and special lots.
In a press release from Paper Money Guaranty, we learned that one of these special lots was an 1869 $50 Legal Tender “Rainbow Note” certified by Paper Money Guaranty that realized $180,000 at the Stack’s Bowers Galleries official ANA auction

Among the rarities to be offered at Stack’s Bowers World’s Fair of Money sale in Rosemont, Illinois, is an extremely rare turn-of-the-century revolutionary issue: a Philippines Panay centavo of 1899 (KM-156, Basso-100). Few examples of this coin have survived.
