Summer Baltimore Show Cancelled

 
 
 
 
Optimistic hobbyists attempting to put a summer show schedule in place will have to cross Baltimore off the list. The Whitman Coin & Collectibles Expo, originally scheduled for June 18-20 at the Baltimore Convention Center, has been cancelled.
The decision was made due to “Maryland’s ongoing state of emergency, declared March 12 by Governor Larry Hogan to help control the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic,” according to a statement on the show’s website

September 16, 2019 — The most valuable United States modern coin ever sold at auction, a 1975 Proof No S dime, changed hands twice in less than a week, both times for record prices.
The finer of the two known 1975 Proof dimes without the San Francisco “S” mint mark was jointly purchased on September 6, 2019, for $456,000 by modern coin specialist Mitch Spivack along with his son, Justin, owner of MonsterCoinMart in Orange County California, and with collector Steven Heller also as a partner on the deal

A: The missing or weak numeral (or letter) error is generally caused by the concerned area of the die filling with dirt, grease, or metal particles which harden and prevent coin planchet metal from flowing into that area of the die as intended, which softens or eliminates the intended raising of the numeral or letter
