Thailand: Central Bank unveils new bank notes depicting King Rama X

The Bank of Thailand have unveiled (8th March) the new series of bank notes which will depict the country’s new King Rama X, who succeeded his father the late King Bhumibul Adulyadej (Rama IX), after a reign of 70 years — the longest reign within the Chakri dynasty and in Thai history. The new bank notes which are designated as series 17, were only finalised after the elaborate cremation ceremony of the late king in October 2017 — one year after his actual death

Thailand: Commemorative banknote set to be issued in September honours life of late king

The Bank of Thailand has unveiled (20th July) a new set of banknotes in all available denominations in remembrance of the late King Rama IX (or Bhumibol Adulyadej), who died on the 13th October 2016 at the age of 88. King Rama IX was Thailand’s longest-reigning monarch and served from June 1946 until his death—a total of 70 years, 126 days
