The Hungarian National Bank have issued (13th March) their latest recreation of the gold forint coins which are part of their popular and ongoing series entitled “Medieval Hungarian Gold Forints,” first launched in 2012. The series includes detailed designs from some of Hungary’s most well-known gold forint coins from the rulers of Medieval Hungary beginning with the exquisite replicated design of the gold forint of Charles I issued in 2012

Hungary: New silver coin honours army officer Artúr Görgei on the 200th anniversary of his birth

The National Bank of Hungary have issued (30th January) a new coin which is in remembrance of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Artúr Görgei (1818-1896), who is considered one of the country’s most esteemed military minds, and army officer who is credited with the staunch defence of Hungary’s declaration of independence in 1848. The coin also marks the 170th anniversary of Hungary’s 1848-49 revolution and war of independence
