Sealand: Unveiled commemorative coin remembers the late Princess Joan, co-sovereign of micro-nation

The treasury of the Principality of Sealand has unveiled (14th January) memorial coins which pay tribute to Sovereign Princess Joan who passed away on the 10th March 2016, at the age of 86. She co-founded the Principality of Sealand, a micro-nation which lies just six miles off the southeast coast of the UK along with her husband, Paddy Roy Bates (1921-2012), becoming its first sovereign princely couple on the day of the proclamation of independence

Sealand: For 50th anniversary of independence, new silver coin celebrates a remarkable story

The treasury of the Principality of Sealand, the world’s only man-made and self-proclaimed independent micro-nation, have unveiled (15th September) the designs for their commemorative coin. The coin is to be issued in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Sealand’s declaration of independence, which occurred on the 2nd September 1967
