Luxembourg: 20th anniversary of central bank’s founding celebrated with new gold coin

The Banque Centrale de Luxembourg has issued (31st May) a new coin that marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of the country’s central bank, which came into effect on the 1st June 1998. The central bank is the successor of the former Institut Monétaire Luxembourgeois (IML), which was itself founded in 1983, and whose primary function was that of a regulator of the commercial banking system in Luxembourg in addition to being the issuer of banknotes and coins

The Bank Centrale de Luxembourg have issued a new €2 coin celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Grand Duchy’s Royal dynasty, the Royal House of Nassau-Weilbourg, as well as the Grand Duchy’s independence from the Netherlands.
Luxembourg’s Ruling House is effectively a branch of the greater House of Nassau, a diversified aristocratic dynasty in Europe who ruled a division of the County of Nassau from 1344 to 1806

Luxembourg Celebrates Congress of Vienna Bicentenary with New Silver & Color Coin

The Banque Centrale de Luxembourg has announced the issue of a new coin celebrating the bicentenary anniversary of the Congress of Vienna, an accord that established the Grand Duchy of Luxenbourg as a separate geopolitical entity in association with the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The Congress of Vienna, which opened in September 1814, was called by European leaders as an after-effect of the French Revolution, just prior to Napoleon’s downfall at the battle of Waterloo in June 1815
