Spain: Royal School of Artillery Featured on New Commemorative Coin
The Fabrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre (FNMT) in conjunction with the Casa Real de la Moneda has issued a new silver coin which marks the 250th anniversary of one of the country’s most prestigious military academies, the Royal School of Artillery which is the principal training establishment for artillery warfare in the Spanish Army.
On the 16th May 1764, by order of King Carlos III, the Royal School of Artillery was inaugurated in the Alcázar de Segovia (Segovia Castle)
Effigy of Spain’s New King Felipe VI Unveiled
The Fabrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre in association with the Casa Real have unveiled the effigy or portrait of HM King Felipe VI which will be used on most collector’s coins produced by the Spanish Mint with the issue of a new 30 euro coin.
King Felipe VI succeeded to the Spanish throne on the 19th June of this year after his predecessor and father King Juan Carlos announced his intention to abdicate on the 2nd June after a 38 year reign
Spain ISSF World Championships Featured on New Silver Coin
The Casa Real de la Moneda have announced the issue of a new collector’s coin which highlights the 51st ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) World Championship – scheduled to take place from the 6th to the 20th September in the city of Granada, Spain.
The ISSF World Championships, which include competitions in the four disciplines of Rifle, Pistol, Running Target, and Shotgun, have been held every four years since 1954 in similar fashion to the Olympic Games
