The outer geometric rim design from the American Legion emblem, the Eiffel Tower, and V for victory represent the formation of the organization in Paris in 1919 at the end of World War I

The Royal Canadian Mint have launched (6th March) a new silver coin which marks 180 years of baseball that took place in Ontario, paving the way for one of the most popular sports and pastimes. Travel back in time 180 years ago to Beachville, Ontario, the date was the 4th June 1838, and with an open pasture, a cedar “club” and a ball made of yarn and stitched calfskin seemed to be all that was necessary to stage a match that made sports history

Finland: Fascinating culture of the Sami peoples featured on latest silver collector coins
The Mint of Finland have launched (18th January) new silver collector coins which offer a fascinating look into the indigenous Sami people and their culture which has developed on the northernmost part of the European continent since the end of the Ice Age.
Believed to be some of the very first inhabitants on the European continent, the Sami are also related to the Inuit people living in Greenland and the northern half of North America who migrated from Eurasia (what is today Siberia)
Spain: Colourful crest depicted on new silver coin issued in celebration of king’s 50th birthday
The Fabrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre – Casa Real de la Moneda have issued (30th January) a new commemorative 30-euro silver coin which is minted in celebration of the 50th birthday of His Majesty King Felipe VI, who celebrates his special day on the same day of the coin’s official issue. King Felipe VI succeeded to the Spanish throne in June 2014 upon the abdication of his father, King Juan Carlos, who stepped down after a reign of almost 39 years
United Kingdom: Regal crown coin celebrates four royal generations of succession
The Royal Mint has launched (29th January) a new five-pound crown coin in recognition of the rare instance of four generations of the royal family who are in line to the throne, which is presently held by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Not since 1894 has there been four generations of the royal family who were in succession to the throne at the same time

The Bank of Estonia (Eesti Pank) have announced (22nd December) a competition to design a silver collector coin which will be dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Estonian statesman Jaan Tõnisson, (1868-1941). Tõnisson is remembered as having served as the prime minister of Estonia twice during 1919 and 1920, as Estonia’s head of state from 1927 to 1933, and as foreign minister of Estonia from 1931 to 1932
